C3 Signaling Controller

GENBAND's C3 Signaling Controller is a multi-application control platform for GENBAND's carrier class G9, G6 and G2 gateways that provides a new level of network reliability, flexibility, and scalability for carriers. Its fully featured, advanced routing and control solutions manage the complex interworkings of fixed and mobile network operators at TDM/circuit and packet network borders. Deployed worldwide, the C3 platform also has extensive subscriber and network capabilities that allow operators to provide International gateway, IP tandem and broadband subscriber services without deploying multiple standalone systems.

Residing on industry standard, high availability commercial platforms, the C3 provides a number of high value, integrated features in fixed and mobile operator networks, including: signaling gateway controller, media gateway controller, billing server, application server and element manager. Its protocol-independent signaling and media gateway control functions manage the interconnections between TDM and packet protocols, independent of incoming and outgoing facilities and signaling types. This allows it to be an efficient control element for TDM and packet networks, supporting distributed media gateways and centralized signaling interworking and call control to provide cost savings and revenue generation from new, VoIP-based service offerings.

The C3 platform offers the following:

Wide Subscriber and Transit Feature Set – The standards-based C3 supports a wide range of advanced routing, signaling, and trunking features and services. Applications supported by the C3 include Inter-MSC trunking, Gateway MSC, and IP trunking -- including IP tandem, International gateway, and PSTN gateway for IMS.

High Capacity Platform Architecture
– The highly-scalable C3 operates in small to large configurations. Network operators add capacity as needed by adding pairs of C3 platform nodes to a deployed system, provisioning call processing and signaling across the complete C3 system for cost-effective network deployments. The C3 platform supports the efficient deployment of distributed media gateways that are supported by a single C3 node or even multiple, geographically redundant C3 nodes.

Complete Protocol Suite for IP, TDM and ATM Networks – Providing a wide range of signaling protocols and interworking, the C3 supports many SS7 variants, including ANSI, ITU, ETSI and multiple national C7 protocols. In IMS and TISPAN NGN networks, the C3 provides the Media Gateway Control Function (MGCF) for distributed gateway deployments.

Integrated CDR Collection – The C3 platform includes an easy-to-use, integrated CDR and IPDR collector that generates call detail records in both standard and user-definable formats.

Flexible Service Creation - The service creation environment available in the C3 can be used by operators for service development. The platform also supports off-board SCP systems via both AIN and SIP to enable other high capacity network services.

Carrier-Grade Platform – The C3 platform supports fully-redundant network deployments and geographic redundancy via its distributed software architecture and NEBS servers. It is a carrier-grade platform for all types of networks.

Integrated GenView™ Network Management
– The C3 has an integrated GenView Element Management System that enables remote and centralized OAM&P control of multiple C3 nodes and gateways via multiple web-based terminals. It includes a suite of SNMP and CORBA data objects to support FCAPS functions.
